Quality Should Be Verifiable

A purity claim on a product page isn’t enough. Researchers should be able to see the documentation behind the compounds they’re purchasing

At Unscripted, independent testing is part of our quality process. Products are supported by lot-specific Certificates of Analysis that provide researchers with access to the analytical results associated with the material they receive.

Our standard is straightforward: verify the product, document the results, and make that information accessible.

WHAT WE TEST

Two Questions Every Compound Should Answer

Analytical testing is designed to answer two fundamental questions: Is the compound what it claims to be? And how pure is the material being tested?

These are different measurements, and both matter when evaluating the quality of a research compound.

IDENTITY

Is it the correct compound?

Identity testing evaluates whether the material corresponds to the expected compound. Analytical methods can compare characteristics of the sample against what is expected.

PURITY

How much of the sample is the target compound?

Purity testing evaluates the proportion of the analyzed material attributable to the target compound and can reveal the presence of detectable impurities within the analytical method used.

We like explicitly separating these because a lot of peptide sites throw around “99% purity” as though that tells you everything. It doesn’t. A sample can produce a high purity result for the material detected without that result, by itself, establishing that the material is the correct compound.

HOW WE VERIFY

Analytical Testing, Documented

Our compounds are independently analyzed using established laboratory methods appropriate to the material being tested. Results are documented in lot-specific Certificates of Analysis so researchers can review the analytical data associated with each tested sample.

HPLC PURITY ANALYSIS

High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is used to evaluate sample purity by separating components within the analyzed material and measuring their relative contribution to the result.

IDENTITY COMPARISON

Where documented by the laboratory, chromatographic retention or elution characteristics are compared against analytical standards or reference data to support compound identification and provide verification.

QUANTITY ANALYSIS

Where applicable, quantitative analysis evaluates the amount of material present in the tested sample. The analytical method and measured result are reported on the corresponding Certificate of Analysis.

Purity and quantity measure different things. A compound may demonstrate high analytical purity while the measured amount of material differs from its labeled quantity. Reviewing both results provides a more complete picture of the tested sample.

    Certificate information that allows the laboratory report to be independently verified.

UNDERSTANDING THE RESULTS

What Testing Can (and Cannot) Tell You

Analytical testing provides valuable information about the characteristics of a tested sample, but the results should be understood within the scope of the methods performed.

A Certificate of Analysis can document findings such as purity, identity comparison, and measured quantity when those analyses are performed. It does not, by itself, establish a compound’s safety, effectiveness, clinical suitability, or intended use.

Testing results apply to the sample analyzed and should always be interpreted alongside the methods, specifications, and limitations reported by the laboratory.

When new lots and compounds are added, the supporting documentation should grow with them. Researchers should be able to evaluate the material they’re purchasing using actual analytical data, not simply take our word for it.
