Frequently Asked Questions
Clear, concise answers to common questions about research peptides, quality testing, storage, handling, ordering, and research-use requirements.
Research Peptides 101
A research peptide is a short chain of amino acids produced for laboratory and scientific investigation. Researchers use peptides to study biological processes such as cell signaling, receptor activity, metabolism, and molecular pathways.
Research use only (RUO) means a product is intended exclusively for laboratory research and scientific investigation. RUO products are not intended for human or veterinary use, consumption, diagnosis, treatment, cure, or prevention of disease.
Peptides are made of amino acids joined together by peptide bonds. The number, type, and sequence of amino acids determine a peptide’s structure and biological properties.
Peptides and proteins are both composed of amino acids linked by peptide bonds. Peptides are generally shorter amino acid chains, while proteins are typically longer and fold into more complex three-dimensional structures.
Research peptides are used to investigate biological mechanisms, molecular interactions, receptor activity, cell signaling, metabolism, and other biochemical processes. Their specific research applications depend on the properties and mechanisms of the individual peptide.
Quality & Testing
A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is a document reporting laboratory test results for a specific product or batch. For research peptides, a COA may report information such as identity, purity, analytical methods, and testing results.
Peptide purity describes the proportion of the tested sample represented by the target peptide relative to detectable impurities. Purity is typically expressed as a percentage and determined using analytical laboratory methods.
Peptide purity is commonly evaluated using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), which separates components within a sample for analysis. The resulting chromatogram can be used to estimate the relative purity of the target peptide.
Mass spectrometry measures the mass-to-charge ratio of molecules within a sample. In peptide testing, it can be used to help confirm that the molecular mass of the analyzed compound is consistent with the expected peptide.
Independent laboratory testing provides analytical information about a research peptide from a laboratory separate from the seller or manufacturer. Results can help researchers evaluate characteristics such as identity and purity before selecting materials for laboratory research.
Storage & Handling
Lyophilized peptides should generally be stored at –20°C or colder for long-term stability and protected from light and moisture. Storage requirements may vary by peptide.
Allowing a cold peptide vial to reach room temperature before opening helps reduce condensation and moisture exposure, which can affect the long-term stability of lyophilized peptides.
Yes. Many peptides should be protected from prolonged exposure to light because light can contribute to degradation. Storage requirements may vary by peptide.
Repeated freeze-thaw cycles can contribute to peptide degradation. When repeated access is required in a laboratory setting, researchers commonly divide solutions into smaller aliquots.
Storage conditions for peptide solutions depend on the specific peptide, solvent, concentration, pH, and experimental requirements. Peptide solutions generally have more limited stability than lyophilized peptides.
Ordering & Shipping
Orders received by 12:00 PM Pacific Time on business days are generally processed for shipment the same business day. Orders received after 12:00 PM Pacific Time, on weekends, or on recognized holidays are generally processed the next business day.
Unscripted offers standard and expedited shipping within the United States. Standard shipping has an estimated transit time of 2–3 business days after shipment, while expedited shipping has an estimated transit time of 1–2 business days after shipment.
Yes. Orders with a qualifying merchandise subtotal of $200 or more receive free standard shipping within the United States.
Unscripted ships to valid residential and commercial addresses in all 50 U.S. states, including Alaska and Hawaii. Unscripted does not currently ship internationally, to U.S. territories, or to APO/FPO addresses.
Unscripted orders are shipped in plain, unbranded outer packaging. Products are packaged with the goal of protecting them during normal transportation and delivery.
No. All sales are final, and Unscripted does not accept returns or exchanges because appropriate storage, handling, and chain-of-custody conditions cannot be verified after a product leaves our control. Confirmed shipping or fulfillment problems, including damaged, incorrect, missing, or carrier-confirmed lost items, may qualify for replacement or refund.
Research Use & Compliance.
No. Unscripted peptides are sold strictly for laboratory research use only and are not intended for human or veterinary use, consumption, diagnosis, treatment, cure, or prevention of disease.
No. Products sold by Unscripted as research peptides are not marketed as medicines, dietary supplements, foods, cosmetics, or products for human consumption. They are supplied exclusively for laboratory research purposes.
No. Unscripted research peptides are not intended for diagnosis, treatment, cure, mitigation, or prevention of any disease or medical condition. They are supplied solely for laboratory research.
No. Unscripted does not provide dosing, administration, or human-use instructions for research peptides because its products are not intended for human or veterinary use.
Unscripted research peptides are intended for researchers, laboratories, clinicians conducting appropriate research, and other qualified individuals or organizations using the products for legitimate laboratory research purposes.
The research-use-only designation identifies the intended purpose of the products: laboratory research and scientific investigation. It also distinguishes these products from substances marketed for human or veterinary consumption or therapeutic use.
